August was another exciting month of new products from Degustabox, the monthly food subscription service. Last month I got their introduction box that you can read about here, but I got to try many new products in August. As usual, each box contains an information card that describes each product and its value. I think that Degustabox is a good value and contains products that are totally new to me, but I was hoping for more international products because the company is European. Maybe next month?
Oregon Chai Tea Latte Powder
I was surprised by how much I liked the chai latte mix. I was worried that a powdered mix wouldn’t be super flavorful but was delicious. It is a great pick-me-up for at work although now I want to try working into a cream cheese frosting recipe….
Goya Maria Cookies
I’ve always seen Maria cookies in different colored rolls as the grocery store so I was happy to give them a try. They taste a lot like shortbread or British digestives. Either way, they are delicious with a cup of tea. And I’m thinking about using the for an ice box cake. I’m thinking chocolate pudding, loads of whipped cream. And for about $1 a roll it is not an investment if I want to experiment.
Sir Kengsington’s Chipotle Mayonnaise
Don’t the idea of vegan mayo stop you. Vegan or not, this stuff is really tasty. I really enjoyed Sir Kensington’s on a BLT (presumably not the intended use) and it was CRAZY good. The smokiness from the chipotles was a perfect match to the smokiness of the bacon.
Honey Bunches of Oats Strawberry
I was surprised to find a box of cereal in my August Degustabox but I’ve always been a fan of Honey Bunches of Oats. Freeze dried strawberries are a nice addition to the mix and add a bit of sweetness and crunch. Even better, Z liked them. And I’m happy any time she wants cereal that’s not full of sugar.
Loacker Rose of the Dolomite Chocolates
Honestly, I didn’t love them but I never like chocolates with a creamy center. But if you love that and like hazelnuts, you will love them.
ALO Allure Pulp Free
I have seen aloe drinks in stores for years but have never been adventurous enough to try a bottle. What a shame because I really liked ALO! It contains mango and mangosteen juice and has a tropical flavor that is different from anything else I have tried. So maybe now I need to hunt down a mangosteen…
Goetze’s Mini Cow Tales
I remember these candies from when I was a kid. I think we got them from the ice cream truck or maybe while trick-or-treating. Regardless, these caramel candies are nostalgic. Caramel with a creamy center (not sure why this doesn’t bother me with caramel candies) and no weird chemical taste like you get with some caramel candies. And no, I am not sharing them.
LOVE popchips! Ridges or no ridges, I’m a fan. But the sour cream and cheese bag I got was very tasty. Looking forward to checking out their Tangy Barbecue flavor now.
White Lily White Grape and Wheat Flour
Ok, so I haven’t tried this yet but only because I am totally intimidated by whole wheat flour. Something about using more liquid or letting it absorb, or whatever. But this flour is so fancy looking that I’m waiting for the perfect recipe. And I LOVE the resealable bag! Seriously, why isn’t every company packaging their specialty flours like this?
Vermont Smoke & Cure Mini Meat Sticks
Each pack was inhaled by a 4 year old in about 30 seconds. I’ll take that to mean that they were tasty but she didn’t share :).
All in all, this was a very tasty box of new products to try. And all for $20, but you can get it 50% off now!
