I’m not sure why we don’t hear more about mango lassi. I see smoothie shops all over, even those boba tea shops, but mango lassi is the original smoothie. A simple blend of mango and yogurt, they are a little bit sweet and very refreshing.

My parents have always loved the combination of orange and chocolate. They bring back chocolate orange candy bars whenever they travel and we are always on the lookout for new chocolate/orange treats. Fannie May’s chocolate covered orange peel was always a favorite, but my sister has been making it herself for the last several years. We even have a chocolate orange marble cake at Christmas each year! This is a strange time of year. School has started, so it feels like fall. But Chicago has been warm and sunny, so it is hard to get excited about heavier fall foods. Warm, not hot. The difference? I can bake when it is warm out without turning my tiny kitchen into a sauna. And because I have spent months dreaming about baking cakes, it is time to get to work.
