Some nights there is nothing more satisfying than a bowl of salty popcorn. As someone with a nasty habit of burning the bag of microwave popcorn at work, I try not to risk this fate at home. Plus, in case you haven’t heard, buttery microwave popcorn is toxic. But this method for making microwave popcorn is not only tastier, but healthier AND cheaper. Plus, there is an infinite number of variations that you can try. My favorite popcorn is coated in truffle salt…
In a brown paper lunch bag add:
1/4 cup of popcorn kernels
a teaspoon of canola oil (I fill most of the oil cap)
Fold the top over the bag over a couple of times and microwave for about 2 minutes. Just like your regularly microwave popcorn, turn it off when the popcorn stops popping regularly. If you are not sure, stop it early. Your really don’t want it to burn.
When done, mix in the truffle salt, about a tablespoon. I like it really salty, so I tend to go a little crazy.
Serve preferably while curled up on the couch.
Other variations to try:
Cheese powder (you know, the stuff from the Kraft box, although you can buy it separately)
Plain salt with M&Ms (Amazing movie treat!)
