I am a terrible baker. I’ll admit it. I have issues with authority and this makes following recipes painful at times. However, in this situation, I really tried to make the recipe work. I even waited for the butter to get to room temperature! I’m not sure if there was a problem with the recipe, or just my lack of skill, but these scones were a disaster. I found the dough too dry to shape, even when adding all of the cream. They were crumbly, and barely stayed together on the baking sheet. The recipe suggested variations such as currants, but I think they made the disaster even worse.
(Note: Hubby claims they were “not so bad,” but I think he was being nice.)
